Seminar programme:
North-East Atlantic Margin organisms in the Faroes - taxonomy, distribution and ecology
- Biogeography of the Faroe area, including the continental slope as part of the North Atlantic bathyal fauna region, with emphasis on links to bottom temperature, water masses and other hydrographic phenomena.
- Shelf biota as compared to those of Iceland and the rest of the western European margin, including mass occurrence of habitat-shaping invertebrates on the edge slopes.
- Fauna and ecology of banks and ridges around the Faroes.
- Zoogeography and ecological diversity of meiobenthos.
- Human impact and possible impact by future climatic changes on marine benthic flora and fauna within the Faroese EEZ.
Accomodation: The attendees will have the possibility to choose to stay in one of the hotels in Torshavn or in one of the guest houses.
Hotel Hafnia Situated in the heart of the world´s smallest capital, within walking distance of the harbour and the historical part of the town. This is also where the symposium will be held.
